Let the Rumors Fly! The Tuesday Update Rumors.

So...I knew rumors would fly...and they are.  Remember last time when we had that update, I think it was January or February, where everyone thought camera support would be there?  And they were all wrong?  Well, I think it is going to happen again.

These are my favorite rumors:

  • Various Xbox enthusiast sites are reporting that Microsoft's update to the Xbox Live online game service will add key communications features, such as the ability to send and receive voice and text messages to foes and teammates during games.
  •  Later, the company will reportedly add a voicemail feature. To foster a better community around Xbox Live.

What makes these rumors even better...are that they are already features we have, and have had for sometime!  Voicemail?  Isnt that just a voice message?  Or is that "I am sorry, but Mastaglach820 is not available at this time"...I go with the voice message.

Xbox Live Service will be Offline on Tuesday

The service will be down for about 12-13 hours on Tuesday, May 2nd from 2am PST to 3pm PST.  How does that time relate to you?

Just to let you know...Major Nelson says it is Maintenence...so, it is probably maintenence on the back end...you probably wont notice anything.

It is inevitable...so let the rumor's just fly.  I did tell you what it is though.

You may think I am crazy...

But, my Xbox360 is talking about me to others.

Check for yourself

On10.net has a great Windows Vista Preview Video!

I am getting into this whole on10.net.  There are some videos I like...some I don't.  You can't win them all.

Some may have realized that I have been beta testing Windows Vista.  I am truly loving it, and can't wait for a final version that is polished (there are slight performance issues, but we are about 6 or so months from "going gold", as they would say in the game industry, that I am not scared).

Verizon Sponsors another Xbox Live Free Weekend!

Verizon has the news on their site.  They said it would happen again, and it is.

Windows Collaboration...what it can do.

I am sitting in my Economics 203 class last night, and I am thinking about Vista.  I have a paper due, so I can't play around with it just yet.  But...I am thinking...man, the teacher always has to switch over to our video projector (which is really cool), to do the graphs.

Now, I am thinking...well, we could all do a windows collaboration and everyone can chime in, and get that.  It would be really great for internet classes and such.  And what could make it even better...tablet PCs.

I see alot of good things coming from Vista.

Video Schedule Error? What causes this?
I truly dont know. I thought it was related to me using trillian, but it happened again when I used my media controls on my computer. I thought, ok, so it is unsupported.

But, then it happened when I am just here. It happened again while running Trillian on this new build.

The problem is...I don't know how to report it. It happens over so many situations, that it is impossible for me to do it. I took a physical picture (took my digital cam out), and snapped a shot. Those bluescreens go too quick to get any info.

Take a gander:

First few minutes of Vista Build 5365.
Ok...so I talked about my switch from 5308 to 5342...well the switch from 5342 to 5365 is AGAIN a performance upgrade. Man, IE7 is definetly alot better.

Today is probably the last day this weekend ill spend with this build. Got a paper due monday, so I gotta get on XP for that (everything is still on XP). Will have more later this week.

Oh, the new gadgets...so cool!

Updated: Mark Ecko still an idiot.

I usually dont call people out, but I made a previous post about this dude.  It was about him "tagging" Air Force 1.

Well...in all his political activist glory, he admitted to it being a hoax.

Ecko acknowledged Friday that his company had rented a 747 cargo jet at San Bernardino’s airport and covertly painted one side to look like Air Force One. Employees signed secrecy agreements and worked inside a giant hangar until the night the video was made. Ecko declined to say how much the stunt cost.

“It’s not cheap,” he said. “You have to be rich.”

Hey Ecko, why don't you shut up, and instead of trying to start your political activism...why don't you donate money to schools?  How about education children int he classroom to be smart, and have the ability to go on, and maybe become politicians.  But...that isnt cool right?  Cmon, we are Ecko here.

Microsoft and Xbox break World Water Balloon Record in Australia!

Today, in Australia, Xbox staged a massive water balloon fight, in which over 2900 participants.  How official was this world record?  Yes, the Guiness Book of World Records was there...so it is official.

This event was staged to celebrate the launch of the Xbox360 console, that has done great since its launch selling more than 40,000 consoles.  All I can say is that Aussies know their console.

There was a serious part to this, outside of actually setting a record.  All participants had a sign up fee, where they received a shirt, goggles and entry to the event.  $5 from every entrance fee was donated to the "Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club".

It was a great event, wish I could have took part in it.  Major Nelson has photos of the mayhem, and Gamerscore Blog should soon as well.  Will update when I have that

Elle's Library

I created an article with a list of all of Elle's current articles up at Xbox.com.

There are some great reads, so check it out.

To All of the ''MS Copied Apple'' people.

Ok, so alot of people say Microsoft copied apple with "Widget" type applications (that we call Microsoft Gadgets).  Yea yea, and Apple copied Konfabulator.

Well...the next step of the evolution of gadgets is being show off...and the possibilities are endless.  CePro has an article showing that, through the use of one of those Super remotes with an LCD screen, you can run Windows Sideshow, and get all the info/control you need without disturbing your TV.  Can Widgets do that?

Note:  Remote has to be compatible with Windows Sideshow.

Who is Marc Ecko?

Apparently, he thinks he is some free speech advocate now.  Yea yea...isn't that just something new.

But...did he really "tag" the president's plane?  He says he doesnt advocate doing grafitti on another person's property...yes "he tagged" the plane of the President of the United States?

Hopefully, he gets arrested.

Elle's New Article - Charge it. The ways to charge the Xbox360 controller

Today, rock has died. - Updated

I am sorry, but who does American Idol think they are?  Who are they to kill rock, with trying, yes trying, to honor Queen by covering their song.  Today...rock has died.

Now, I am a kicker for keeping the songs the way they are.  Yes, they may be a good performance in their own right...but please...keep Queen the way they were.

Why oh why?!?

Edit:  Ok, so I have now watched the whole thing.  I missed the last singer, but, the other 7 I caught.  I think, if I was judging on how well they sang queen, Taylor Hicks wins.  A fan has a blog up about him.

Going to E3, and have an MSN Space? Trixie may have an opportunity for you.

Ok, 3 requirements for this deal.

  1. You must be going to E3.  (You need to be going by yourself, Trixie is not handing out passes).
  2. You must have an MSN space.  Yes, an MSN Space.
  3. Oh, and of course you need to be an Xbox Live member.

From Trixie's Xbox.com post:

If this is you, please send me an email at xlmail@microsoft.com. Subject line should be 'E3 blogger'. I may have a cool opportunity for you. Please note, I'm not offering E3 passes; you're on your own there. Also, I am looking for  MSN Spaces bloggers ONLY. No, MySpace won't do.

Thanks!

I have a feeling E3 will be big this year.

March Backwards Compatibility update...is updated.

No new games added, just fixing some audio problems.

Major has more.

Again, to those who think the team doesnt work...they do.

Some new (and Old) Xbox360 articles at Xbox.com

Elle, a "Personality" and writer, over at Xbox.com has done some great work with her articles spanning from Family settings of the Xbox360, to Media connectivity of Xbox360.

And today's newest article from Elle: A Parent's Guide to Family Settings

Wow, Daimler/Chrysler/Dodge is cheap!

Ok, I have been reading blogs for about a year now.  And I believe it was Steve Rubel who questioned Fedex on the situation in which a loyal customer had his office comprised all of Fedex boxes, and how that is a great PR move...except for the fact they told him to stop.

Well, I relate that situation to this new Chrysler/Dodge situation.  A Dodge truck owner told Chrysler that his 1995 truck had just passed the million mile mark.  Sounds like a good PR move if they were to advertise it, as to say the cars have such high quality.

Sounds good right?  Well, they are cheap, dont put him in as any part of advertisement and send him a book.  A BOOK?!?!?!  Hi, Mr. Doe, you just gave us great material to make us look even better, but we aren't going to take that on, but heres a book for a job well done.  What makes it even worse, is that it is a book on Chrysler...sheesh that is weak!
