Want to Test Vista? Better Act Fast

Microsoft UK .NET platform product manager Ian Moulster wrote in a post to his personal Web log that the company will cut access to Windows Vista Beta 2 on Friday, as the company has reached the number of testers it was looking to give access to through its Customer Preview Program.

Windows Live! Messenger 8 Released

Retraction. Sorry, I saw the site was re-designed and downloaded it at bosses house for son because his beta version expired. Turned out to be 7.5. I have seen reports of either today or tomorrow. But who knows, it already changed once.

No Fix for Critical Windows 98, Me Flaw

Microsoft has encountered a critical vulnerability in Windows 98, 98 SE and Windows Me that it simply cannot fix, the company acknowledged Friday. Court Rules Net Wiretapping Legal

Microsoft Plans Better Disclosures For Piracy Monitoring Tool

SEATTLE - Microsoft Corp. acknowledged Wednesday that it needs to better inform users that its tool for determining whether a computer is running a pirated copy of Windows also quietly checks in daily with the software maker. The company said the undisclosed daily check is a safety measure designed to allow the tool, called Windows Genuine Advantage, to quickly shut down. New Microsoft E-Mail Client Gets Ads

Windows Live Mail Desktop is expected to be released later this year and will eventually serve to replace Outlook Express, updated for Vista and renamed Windows Mail.
