Again, I have been bitten by DRM. I have stopped buying DRM, and now I have more songs I have to go re-download to replace the DRMed files and not pay for it as I already did.

As of August 31 of this year, Microsoft's "Plays for Sure" technology -- once codenamed Janus -- will no longer play for sure -- unless, that is, users play back the tunes on the same computers and OS forever.
In a move that's come under concerted attack by users ranging from anti-DRM music bloggers to Linux fans, Microsoft has disclosed plans to stop providing authorization keys for songs downloaded from the old MSN Music service

It's apparently safe to try this now: Microsoft stated this afternoon it's going forward with plans to deploy Windows Vista Service Pack 1 via Automatic Updates.
But today's go-ahead won't mean that users will wake up one morning and suddenly find themselves upgraded (or not), or even that SP1 will find itself deployed all in the same morning.

APRIL 8, 2008 | SAN FRANCISCO -- RSA 2008 Conference -- Microsoft will release the first beta version of Internet Explorer 8 to consumers this summer, with new security features that add more protection for both browser-based and server-based attacks, as well as social engineering exploits.
Craig Spiezle, director of security, safety, and industry for Windows product management at Microsoft, said here in an interview that IE8 Beta 1 builds on and expands some of the security features of IE7. Microsoft released the beta version of its upcoming browser to developers early last month. Spiezle wouldn't say when Microsoft will roll out the final version of IE8.

I had to search all over the internet for this one, and found a workaround that existed in Beta 2 of Outlook 2007. Clear out your Block Senders list and turn off Junk E-mail and it worked.

Chicago (IL) - Several industry sources have confirmed to TG Daily that a very early version of Windows 7, previously code-named Blackcomb Vienna, already has been shipped to “key partners” as a “Milestone 1” (M1) code drop for validation purposes. A roadmap received by TG Daily indicates that the new operating system will be introduced in the second half of 2009.

I just wanted to post my comment to the person who said I should not have used AOL:

It is not just AOL, it is who ever buys a company who or goes out of business or switch to a new DRM provder. I have issues with my MSN Music WMA-DRM. But obtaining "Free" replacements in same high quality are quick and easy.

Here are some WMA DRM Providers that went down:

- MusicMatch bought by Yahoo! (You must install old MM software to get it to work)
- MSN Music Gone. Lucky if you get it to work.
- URGE by MSN and MTV MSN is now gone and MTV is moving to Real Raphsidy Servce.

So the question is, is DRM a easy viable solution for people who want to be law abiding citizens?

Never again will I buy Movies off the Internet.

Ok, my PC crashes or I buy a new one. I will lose them forever. I assure you AOL and Amazon I will NEVER buy DRM content from you again!! Once again another service treats people who LEGALLY purchase their content like crap. Of course it would be two expensive to leave a few servers up to allow authentication and de-activation and re-activation of DRM Movies? I think not. These are greedy companies. Heck, why doesn't Amazon take it over and AOL transfer their certificates and keys over. That's right, it costs time and money. It is their problem and they make it mine. Now only if there were a way I could illegally remove my DRM protection on my WMV files I LEGALLY own to keep for ever. Another idea, allow us to remove the DRM legally from our purchased files.

I just thought of something! I am gonna write a complaint letter to the Attorney general!
