Unable to create Internet Explorer 7: Unspecified Error

Today's email question is: 

"I wonder if you can help me. When I try to save a web address in my Favorites in IE7 I get the error "Unable to create 'Internet Explorer 7': Unspecified Error". I'm using Vista Ultimate and not sure what the problem is. Searched your Knowledge Base could not find answer."

The cause of the problem was that the user who wrote to me had moved his temporary internet files folders from the default directory.  Moving it back fixed the problem.

Coincidentally, the August 2007 update for IE7 includes a fix for a different problem caused by moving the IE cache:

Is the location of your Favorites same as your OS (Windows)?

If not, there lies the problem. Otherwise, make sure that the "read Only" property of the Folder os not checked.

Hi I had the same problem I copied my favorites to my usb pen reinstalled then copied them back.

It must of set Fav's as read only.

Did as above "un ticked read only" and fixed for me.
